Winter Crafts for Children

Posted on 02-02-2017

When the winter weather has you stuck inside, don’t despair. These fun crafts are sure to entertain your little ones.

Thumbprint Art: For this craft, all you need is a blank canvas or sheet of paper, finger paint, and a set of creative hands! Together, you can help your child paint anything from a family portrait to an abstract work of art. You can even incorporate Valentine’s Day into your art project by using festive colors like red, pink, and white. Lay down old newspapers before you begin for an easy clean up, and get started!

White Chocolate Peppermint Pretzels: Your entire family will enjoy chowing down on this winter treat just as much as they’ll enjoy making it. All you need to achieve this sweet snack is melted white chocolate chips, crushed peppermint candy canes, and a bag of pretzels. Simply dip the pretzels in the white chocolate, sprinkle on the peppermint, and let your tray of pretzels sit for 45 minutes to an hour. These frosty, fun-size snacks pair wonderfully with a comforting cup of hot chocolate.

Candy Heart Art: Heart-shaped sweets aren’t only for snacking; they’re for crafting! With a blank piece of paper and some super glue, you can construct a 3D work of holiday heart art. Encourage your little ones to share their masterpieces with family friends and loved ones to spread some Valentine’s Day spirit. And we won’t tell if you munch on a few candy hearts during the process.

Indoor S’mores: No campfire necessary for this indoor activity. With a bag of marshmallows, graham crackers and any kind of chocolate, you can transform your stovetop (or fireplace) into the ultimate spot for s’mores! Make sure to supervise your children when melting your marshmallows.

You won’t even notice the freezing temperatures while you’re indoors working on these fun crafts with your kiddos, and neither will they! These projects are sure to engage your snow-bound tots.
